An outpatient clinic (from Latin ambulare - to walk) is a medical institution that provides assistance to patients at the reception and at home, but does not have places for beds in its composition.
Unlike a polyclinic, an outpatient clinic provides services only in the main areas, such as therapy, surgery, dentistry (sometimes in pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology).
Outpatient treatment is the organization of medical care for patients who come to a medical institution [1]. Outpatient treatment - treatment carried out at home or when the patients themselves visit a medical institution (as opposed to inpatient treatment carried out with the patient's placement in a hospital).
With the advent of the Pharmaceutical Order in the 17th century, the first outpatient clinics arose, in which both Russian and foreign doctors were received. In the 18th century, the position of a doctor for the poor was established, who received it at the main pharmacy of St. Petersburg; during the same period, outpatient clinics were created at factories. The bulk of this type of institution is located in cities (provincial and district), in rural medical areas, thanks to zemstvos, district outpatient clinics are being opened
